Some of our success stories

Here are some highlights in the history of our company and our people.

In 1991-1992, our predecessor and first corporate partner RMP Systems, Inc. worked on the IRS's Electronic Filing System. We were the only subcontractor that recognized the obscure virus-like bug in IBM's EDX operating system which was causing their data corruption. We also showed how they could increase capacity by 50% just by getting rid of some wasteful practices.

David Walden showed a large independent oil and gas producer that by using built in features of popular software they already had in place, they could save over 200 hours per year of a contractor's billable time.

The IPC (Inter-Process Communication) middleware developed by Quadstar (Citicorp) was cumbersome to use and maintain, so our founder stripped it down, took it apart, cleaned it up, and put it back together again, resulting in a more reliable program, which was also easily overlaid to fit on the IBM Series/1 PC. He was also instrumental in converting their product to use separate communications front ends and a mainframe database, long before people started calling it "client/server".

Working entirely in our own offices, we made major enhancements to an error tracking and reporting system for MCI and British Telecom using Access and Oracle.

In 1997, we analyzed and documented an existing application for GTE so that no functionality would be lost when they replaced it with a new system. We also normalized and standardized a data transmission application, eliminating much duplicated (and therefore untrustworthy) code and greatly simplifying the process of adding new data transfer jobs.

We provided project leadership and conversion services to Excel Telecommunications and gave some badly needed feedback on their software development methodology.

Some applications at a manufacturer were so hard-coded and complicated that just changing the discount for a given customer required program modifications. We redesigned and simplified this process, providing a screen for users to change the discount instantly. We also showed how structured programming techniques they had never used before could reduce the cost and risk of maintenance. Their DP Manager referred to our code as "exquisite".

As the Lead QA Analyst at a competitor of MicroFocus, our founder streamlined and standardized their QA test application build process so it could be used the same way across several Unix platforms running different versions of their product. This greatly reduced the time and effort required to test new releases.

Our founder pioneered the use of Cobol II and the Library Management Facility at Mobil, thereby improving the overall quality of software development.
